I just updated the FAQs for this round (Screening 8! We now have as many rounds as Quentin Tarantino has movies. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. Please take a gander at the FAQ post. The sign up post will go up in a few hours--I have to get it done around phone calls at work. I will be doing pimp posts on other comms tonight, so you loyal lovelies will get first crack at sign-ups!

There will not, fair readers, be a Screening 6, because technically, that happened last year and yours truly (faithharkness) didn't update the sidebar.

So this will be Screening 8!!! Hooray!! Below is the timeline bookwrm89 and I have sketched out. Please take a gander and if something looks glaringly impossible, let us know so we have time to adjust before sign-ups go live (which will be a week from today!).

Timeline for Screening 8:

July 23, 2015--Sign ups open!! (An FAQ post will be posted the same day, as well as any new rules/options--and yes, there are some fun new things we're trying out this round.)
July 30, 2015--Sign ups close!
August 20, 2015--Non-mandatory mid-point, "I'm still alive and working on it," check-in. This will just be the mods doing a check-in post here asking for you to comment whether you are still doing all right, need help, etc.
September 10, 2015--Mandatory check-in. The mods will post here asking for a comment with whether or not you are close to being done, hopelessly mired, etc. This allows us to determine if deadlines need pushed back, etc. (Yes, Faith is loving the "etc." today.)
September 17, 2015--Submissions are due! A few days before this, we'll do a reminder post with instructions for submissions.
September 20, 2015--POSTING STARTS.

There will be a few new fun things this round, including the ability to sign up for a second movie if you finish yours quickly (because some people--I'm looking at you, bookwrm89--have gone crazy and been writing for weeks).

So please let us know if this timeline looks insane in the good or bad way so we can re-work if necessary; I'd like to start pimping the comm this weekend to drum up more sign-ups for when it opens on the 23rd.

Bet you thought we'd forgotten, given up, ran off with the Doctor, or got abducted by a certain immortal former time agent.  Believe me, if either of the last two had happened, faithharkness and I would find a way to post and gush about how tired and sore we were (from running after the Doctor, or, well, use your debauched, naughty little imaginations for what we'd be doing with Jack LOL).

Alas, no abductions for us, just continued real life intruding into our fandom time.  We are working on a timeline for Screening 6 and plan on posting it shortly...we hope.

More soon so start thinking of what movie you want to Torchwoodize next!  (I don't know about faithharkness, but I would be okay with opening the selection up to television movies if someone promised to do Sharknado).

Be back soon!

Sorry these are so late, my ducklings! The lovely bookwrm89 was moving the past few weeks and I was working 11 hour days and recovering from the awesomeness that was meeting Clark Gregg and Alex Kingston in the same weekend.

So, without further ado, here are April's quotes. I'll post the reveals for March shortly.

Oh, and we're kicking around the next big round of reel_torchwood. Please drop a comment and let us know if a summer round is a good idea or conflicts with too many other challenges you guys are doing.

I will shortly be updating the February challenges post with the source films. This month, I have snuck in a line from a musical (but it was based on a film) BECAUSE IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW AND I CAN!!!

Remember, you can use any, all or none and there is no posting deadline. If last month inspired you and you're still working on it, post whenever. We only ask that if you post something based on these challenges, you post here (as well as anywhere else you like), and that you let other people know about this comm and these challenges!

This month's lines:

"And the only thing that mattered was the four days in your arms." Bridges of Madison County--The Musical

"You know, I never had the heart to tell you, but I've never really cared for your coffee." Dante's Peak

"Come with me if you want to live." The Terminator

"Mortal or immortal, here I die. I leave eternity to thee."--And Faith is giving cookies if anyone knows what this is from without googling it. It's from Cyborg 2.

Have fun!

Never fear, we will still be doing a "big" Reel Torchwood round later this year, but bookwrm89 and I were kicking some other ideas around over the past few weeks. We thought maybe getting out of the headset of seeing something and saying, "Torchwood should do this! I should do this for Reel Torchwood!" might be a contributing factor to fics not getting finished. We, of course, understand that the number one reason things fall behind is, to bastardize a Jurassic Park quote, "Life finds a way. To completely screw up your writing plans." We get it, it happened to both of your mods this round and it happened to a lot of our participants. But it is easier to stay in the writing groove (at least for your mods) if there is something new and shiny on a more regular basis to stimulate the muses/bunnies/your-writing-deity-of-choice.

So we thought having some monthly challenges might help. Each month, we’re going to post five or so movie lines and pieces of dialogue to jump start us and our fellow writers/creators. We aren’t going to post what the lines are from (but if you MUST know, comment here and we'll PM you) until the month’s challenge is over.  Please no one spoil what movie they'r from in the comments!

There are no sign-ups, no minimum or maximum word count, no check-ins and the only deadline is we’d like you to post in the month the lines are from, but we won’t be too hard on that deadline. We are hungry for fic and we want this to be a nice, casual way to get Torchwood into more films (or more films into Torchwood; it can go both ways, it's Torchwood). All we ask is that if you write something for a line, you post it to the comm and if you post it elsewhere, you let others know you got it from this challenge, in case they want to come play as well.

And although we’re posting this in January, this is actually the February challenge; your mods’ Februaries are kind of stupidly busy, so we wanted to give you as much time as possible.

With that being said, here are the February movie lines:

Have fun!

As I'm sure you've all seen, the lovely lilithbint posted their fic yesterday (sorry about the lack of a pimp post!). We have at least one more fic posting next week and then bookwrm89 and I will be unveiling the next shiny new thing for the comm. Think of them as rounds of DVD extras, if you will...

Hi everyone *waves*

The (un)Life of Owen

Author: Lilithangel

Fandom: Torchwood

Characters: Owen, Jack, Ianto, John, a cast of thousands (well hundreds okay maybe tens)

Rating/Warnings: G, temporary character death (we are talking about Jack after all)

Summary: the Rift, an intergalactic tom cat, a dead guy, a guy who won’t stay dead and his lover. It really should have been written by Python (no really, I couldn’t do the Python humour justice).
During an encounter with Captain John, Owen, Ianto and Jack are thrown through the Rift into an unknown world and some completely understandable misunderstandings happen.

Movie Inspiration: The Life of Brian (and The Search for the Holy Grail, and The Meaning of Life and random Monty Python sketches).

Hello TW lovers!
We did not get as many submissions as we had hoped, but we are working with the creators we did get to be sure the posting schedule we're hacking out works for them. We're going to spread the joy out and post one a week for the next few weeks.
If you are a creator who did not get their work done in time and you get it completed during the posting the next few weeks, drop a comment here and we can add you to the line-up.

Otherwise, it looks like posting will wrap up around the end of January/beginning of February. Just in time for our monthly challenges to start.
